There's nothing wrong with being emotional! Especially when WALL-E almost dies and Eve has to save him and you just don't know if he's going to make it, not to mention the hand-holding and when WALL-E reboots and doesn't remember and EVE wants to hold his hand but he doesn't remember and... It shouldn't matter that I'm a girl, right? Everyone tears up at that stuff, right? Right?
I think it's a monument to the artistic work of the filmmakers at Pixar that they can build a character out of electronic chaos, give that character a voice and life, and make us care so deeply about that character. They're wizards.
Tearing up is nothing to be ashamed of. At least that's what I keep telling myself. You think you've got it bad? Try having a kid. Now I'm tearing up at certain diaper commercials.
It's okay to cry, certainly, but I typically don't when I should because of stupid masculine training so I get all backed up and my eyes leak at the smallest excuse. It just seems a silly state of affairs to me.
