I'm a few days behind on this but I just found out Robert Jordan died. My reactions to this are:
Crap, I needed closure on that series.
And, with a touch more humanity:
Crap, an author I liked just died. This is a sad thing.
It's not a fitting eulogy to a guy who was by all accounts very nice but:
Crap, this sucks.
It's incredibly unfair that we don't get to be immortal.
I know it's selfish, but I hate it when authors have the temerity to die before finishing a series. I mean, really! How inconsiderate. Probably didn't even leave behind any notes for a proxy to bring the story to conclusion, however unsatisfying it may be.
ReplyDeleteAll I have to say is that when Rand started gettin' it three ways the story lost some credibility. Three ways plus a voyeur, thanks to Birgitte's warder bond. All hail the Randy Lord Dragon. They do say that power is the greatest aphrodisiac, though.
I have read several places that RJ left notes and plot details with his family, so that if worse-came-to-worse, somebody could finish the final book.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that it will happen, and that somebody will pick up the pieces. My guess is also that it will take a bit longer than 2009 to finish the story as well...but if we have to wait even longer, then so be it. I must have closure as well.
