Sign of the coming apocalypse

The Seattle Seahawks have the best record in the NFC at 12-2 and the second best record in the league (they trail only the Colts, their next opponent this weekend). Oh my God the earth quaked when I wrote that sentence.

Start stocking up on food and water now. This may also be a good time to have a place to meet or a plan in case of severe societal disruption. This isn't a drill people! Move! Move!

  1. Hell may not be freezing over just yet, but it's sure a chilly day in Walla Walla.

Ooooooooh, burn! Wait. Aw, man. I like Walla Walla.

People that I've talked to around here don't quite know whether to be completely pumped up or to start bracing themselves for devestating heartbreak. I mean, c'mon! They're going to be facing the Colts! Talk about your Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They've been leaving hoofprints all over every defensive line they've faced this year.

As much as I know this is going to be the end of our friendship, I have to say honestly I don't quite know who to root for. It's kind of like the last Olympic gold medal hockey game between Team USA and Team Canada. There were so many of my favorite players on both sides, I just had to sit there cheering every good play. Sometimes the love of the game goes beyond cities or nations.

I just hope the playoffs and superbowl end up being tight and competetive, not some meltdown. That would just be disappointing.

  2. I once had an idea for a story that involved a version of football where the fans in the stands (or at home) all wore these helments that gave the players of the team they were rooting for more speed and strength. So in essence, the game was partly a contest of skill, a partly a contest of fan will-power. But I never did anything with it. And humanity is better for it.

As for who to root for, I'll make it easy on you. You'll root for Seattle. "But Hbot, I don't want to . . . " STOP. You WILL root for Seattle. The Hbot3000 has spoken.
