GSA Forevah

Kvc's post reminded me of something Mr. Unwilted put up over on youtube (the Brandon part, not the pooping part. :-). It's the 1992 Gem State Academy Video Yearbook, complete in six parts. Hooray! Here's part one:

  1. I had a three part comment last night but I was too tired from drinking wine at a book club (I know what a wild life I lead.) So my slightly tipsy thoughts will never be memorialized.

Watching these video clips there are times where the screen is too pixelated to make out who the person is...but still there name comes popping into my brain. Like i've been hardwired to pattern recognize, hair flipping, body shapes, and styles of walking. It's just strange to have this near instinct level of recognition after so many years. Not for everyone, but many more than I would have remembered two days ago.

Also it's hard to believe how much adolescent obessing I spent over some of these ladies. Some are still look cute to me even factoring in the nineties, but some make me question my sense of taste. Either way you'd have to be blind not to see how cute Mandy's eyes are.

  2. I also made Shereen watch part of it.

Me not using an indoor voice: You have to come see Mrs. Kravig. She's the Alma Kravig part of the song.

    Shereen: Shut-up. You're drunk.

Me: There's a school that we love in hills of Idaho...

Shereen: You betta check yo'self befo you wreck yo self.

Me: ALMA KRAVIG OUR PRIDE AND OUR SCHOOL.

    Shereen: Why did I marry a potato-picking hill-billy cracker.

    Me: They were SUGAR BEETS!

I think America was in a better healthy state then; look at all you fit young bucks.

Even though I wasn't there in 1992, it reminds me of better years when all had hopes and dreams. Now, you're either fulfilling your dreams or hoping nobody notices.

  4. I used to love this video. I was always disappointed we only did it the one year.

  5. Why did you love it so much? You were always ducking for the door whenever the camera came around.

Egad. How young we were. (15 years ago. 15! Years!) And many of us dressed like complete idiots. But I agree with KVC. It's spooky how many completely forgotten names came rushing back when I saw this footage. It's too bad the image quality suffered so much from the conversion to YouTube.
